What maintenance can I do myself? While it is always a good idea, and recommended by equipment manufacturers to have your system serviced at least once a season by a licensed heating and air conditioning contractor, there are a few things you can do yourself to help maintain your system at peak efficiency and performance. The first is to change your filter. Check the filter in your furance or air handler each month. A dirty filter can cause excessive wear on your system and could mean costly repairs. The other is to keep your outdoor unit free of dirt and debris. Things like grass clippings, leaves, dirt, can restrict airflow throught the outdoor coil. If there is extensive build up, you will need it professionaly cleaned by a service technician. The last thing you can do is be aware. If you system begins making a noise, cycling different or just not operating the way it used to, it's time for a technician to come take a look at it. We offer maintenance agreements for your piece of mind. Feel free to Ask an Expert about your specific problem.
